About the Black Student Coalition

The Black Student Coalition (BSC) was established in 2020 with a mission to foster an inclusive community for Black students attending predominantly white institutions (PWIs) in New York City. The coalition aims to bridge gaps and create a supportive environment for students facing unique challenges in their educational journeys.

BSC hosts various student-led initiatives that provide opportunities for participants to translate their classroom experiences into real-world applications. These initiatives not only promote leadership skills but also create safe spaces for students to share their stories, build lasting connections, and transform feelings of isolation into empowerment and collective action. Through these efforts, the coalition strives to uplift and inspire Black students across NYC, empowering them to become advocates for change within their communities.
