About

The Black Student Coalition (BSC) was founded in 2020 to create an inter-school community for Black students attending predominantly white institutions (PWIs) in New York. BSC provides a space where students can share their experiences, build connections, and transform feelings of isolation into empowerment and collective action.

Goals

  • Community & Belonging: Ensure every student who joins BSC feels secure, heard, and inspired.

  • Recognition & Support: Create both academic and social spaces where Black students are fully recognized and supported.

  • Leadership & Change: Equip members with the tools and confidence to affect positive change within their schools and beyond.

  • Wholeness of Experience: Strive to make BSC a place where, if members reflect on their PWI experience, they feel that nothing essential was missing.
